WHSmith completes redevelopments at Sydney International Airport
WHSmith completes its redevelopment phase in Sydney T1 Airport this month with the opening of 2 new arrival stores in Sydney T1 Arrivals Gate A and Gate B. This follows a successful launch of a world first new concept store in Sydney Airport Departures at the end of 2015.
Having won the tender early in 2015 to operate six NBC (News, Books and Convenience) stores, WHSmith has now opened seven stores, including a 450sqm landside Departures store and four airside stores, with these last two in arrivals totalling in over 1,500sqm of retail space, all using a world first new store concept.
Dedicated to international travellers, the new, larger format innovative stores within T1 are an evolution from traditional ‘books and news’ operations and deliver a dynamic and compelling retail experience for passengers. The retail environment is premium, stylish and contemporary in design and offers the functionality to support high levels of service and excellent product displays. A light and bright retail environment with strong navigational signage and new and innovative fixtures, ensures the stores provide passengers with a unique and memorable shopping experience.
The 2 new stores feature a ‘store-in-store’ concept, partnering with Lebara Mobile Australia to deliver a full service communication solution to travellers arriving in Sydney. Owned by Vodafone Hutchison Australia, Lebara is one of Europe’s fastest growing mobile companies with five million active customers, 1,000 employees worldwide and operations in eight countries.
