WHSmith to expand its presence at Perth Airport with new stores opening in International Terminal 1
WHSmith is proud to announce that, following a competitive tender process, they have been awarded four sites in Perth Airport’s International Terminal 1. The sites are due to open during 2020.
This announcement follows a fantastic year of growth for WHSmith in Australia, which has included three new store openings in Perth Airport’s Domestic Terminal 4, and two in Melbourne Airport’s Domestic Terminal 3.
The new Perth Airport WHSmith stores will feature the latest format developments in store design and layout, showcasing best in class retail initiatives with feature spaces for key ranges and digital screens. Our ‘Celebrating Local’ program, which launched in Perth Airport earlier in the year, will be expanded with activations throughout these new stores dedicated to highlighting local products, book titles, events, organisations and notable Western Australian people, creating a true sense of place.
Our highly successful pure play digital accessories travel retail brand, InMotion, will have prominent space in several of the new Perth Airport sites. InMotion, which was acquired in 2018 by WHSmith, is the largest airport-based digital accessories retailer in North America and has expanded internationally in 2019. The InMotion store in store offer within the new sites follows the successful launch of the first Australian InMotion store, which opened in Perth Airport Terminal 4 in June 2019. InMotion will offer a specialised shopping experience to customers who will be able to enjoy the extensive and dedicated range of the latest headphones, power and technology accessories for their journey.

The first of these four new Perth Airport stores are scheduled to open in May 2020.
