Convenience retail outlet with stores located in ACT, NSW and QLD.

Who is Supanews?

Supanews opened its first store in Aspley, in 1992. Customers flocked to the store, confirming that this new approach gave the public what they wanted. Supanews spread throughout the Brisbane CBD and selected suburban sites, becoming an integral part of the retail landscape for the Brisbane public. Since 2004, Supanews has franchises and corporate owned stores located throughout QLD, NSW and VIC. Supanews stores are located across a diverse mix of locations including transit, CBD and premium shopping malls.

In 2014, Supanews was acquired by UK retailer WHSmith and supported locally by WHSmith Australia. Founded in 1792, WHSmith employs over 14,000 people and manages over 350,000 sqm of retail space. With more than 1,300 retail outlets globally in airports, train stations, hospitals and high streets, specialising in books, magazines, stationery, gadgets and entertainment products.

Being part of the WHSmith family allows us to significantly increase buying power with local suppliers and opens the doors to new product not currently available in the market through international suppliers. This creates a point of difference for our customers meaning higher profits for franchisees.

Supanews has the backing of WHSmith as franchisor providing a robust platform of support for franchisees. Franchisees enjoy access to collective purchasing power, uniqueness and market leading pricing. Franchisees are in charge of ordering their own stock with input from the experienced Supanews buying team, who analyse local markets to ensure a better understanding for franchisees when it comes to opportunities.

Franchise fees are charged at a percentage, or fixed rate, based on revenue, so if you make money, we make money.

WHSmith have been in business for 225 years and is a leading retailer across the UK.
